High school athletics are on tap to begin the week after Christmas across Oregon, at least that's the tentative plan the Oregon School Activities Association has established.

It's officially in print, but it remains only tentative at best due to Gov. Kate Brown's shifting orders on gatherings and contact. When the Fall sports seasons got moved back to late Winter, it seemed a natural due to Winter being indoors for all the sports: basketball, wrestling, swimming and cheerleading.

But, coaches and administrators have been wondering if the Winter seasons will be able to happen due primarily to lack of guidance on issues of contact. Currently, no contact is allowed for sports outside of the state's NCAA Div. I men's and women's programs.
