Losing Saturday sparked something within the second-ranked Oregon softball team. It sparked a power surge.
A day after losing 10-2 at home to Washington, the Ducks hit eight home runs, including three by Geri Ann Glasco, during a 15-6 rout of the 19th-ranked Huskies at Howe Field.
Oregon scored 10 runs in the fourth inning, and the home run total set a school record by two. The win moved the Ducks to 30-4 on the season.
"Yesterday was unacceptable," sophomore shortstop Nikki Udria told media Sunday. "Today we showed some of our potential."
Monday, Oregon moved to No. 1 in the national coaches' poll, replacing LSU. Florida, which has beaten Oregon twice, remained third.
The Ducks lead the Pac-12 with an 8-1 record.
Up next is a three-game road series at UCLA that begins Friday. Tuesday Oregon plays a doubleheader against Portland State at the Hillsboro Softball Complex.
Oregon is looking to play its way back into the College Softball World Series for a second-straight year.
