April 9, 2012

Track and field is the lone spring sport with six championships, with two sites each playing host to three classifications.

The Class 3A, 2A and 1A meet is held at Western Oregon University, May 18-19, while the 6A, 5A and 4A meet is held at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field, May 25-26.

Eugene will host the U.S. Olympic Trials in summer in advance of the 2012 London Olympic Summer Games.

Summit will be looking to continue its athletic dominance of Class 5A. After winning both the boys and girls team titles last year, the Storm won the boys and girls titles in cross country in November.

Sunset's boys and Jesuit's girls are the defending Class 6A champions, while Philomath won the boys title at Class 4A and finished just behind Newport in the girls standings.

St. Mary's won the girls title at 3A, while Nyssa won the 3A boys title.

Reedsport edged Portland Christian 77-76, for the Class 2A girls title, while Central Linn cruised to the boys title.

At 1A, Damascus Christian got four event wins from junior Kristan Holding and won the team title. Crane won the boys team title.
