OSU's Schroeder headed to nationals

The sophomore won her regional by eight strokes
Staff report

Oregon State sophomore Nicole Schroeder is heading to the NCAA National Championships on a major roll, having won the Madison, Wis., Regional by eight strokes Tuesday.

Schroeder shot two rounds in the 60s in the three-round regional, earning a spot at the Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Okla., beginning May 18. The Beavers finished eighth as a team, missing a spot in the finals by two spots.

By winning the regional, Schroeder completed a stunning turnaround from the Pac-12 Championships two weeks earlier when she finished in a tie for 34th at 12-over. Oregon State finished 11th in the conference tournament, but still managed a spot in the 72-team regional line-up, which allowed Schroeder to dazzle the Wisconsin fans.
