PORTLAND - Newberg, Westview and South Albany all retained state titles at the Oregon Cheerleading state finals Saturday on what was a record-setting day at Memorial Coliseum.

Three of the six divisions were decided by less that two points, and two were by less than one point, a record for most divisions being decided by such close margins.

Tualatin edged Thurston in the Coed Large division 181.80 to 181.50, earning the school its first title since 2012, and first in the coed division.

At 4A, Henley edged Newport by just 0.90 points to win only its second title, and keep the Cubs from winning their first.

Central Linn won its first title by scoring an upset of two-time champion Delphian, 161.50-160.20.

Newberg had the high score of the day at 202.40, and retained the small coed title it won last year after winning the 6A Small division for four consecutive years.

Westview had the high score for a non-coed team at 194.50 with a nearly flawless routine.

South Albany won its third-straight title at Class 5A.

Overall, a record 27 schools competed in the coed divisions.
