Feb. 15, 2014 / By Cliff Pfenning, Oregonsports Journal

The Portland Panthers overcame a 10-point deficit in the final eight minutes of their game with Lane Saturday and moved another step closer to the school's first-ever playoff berth. But, with three games left in the regular season, the playoffs are still a long way off.

Portland got 26 points and 14 rebounds from Warren Edmonson and outscored Lane 34-6 in points off turnovers to win 72-66 on their home court. Kidus Ephrem added 15 points for the Panthers, who trailed 58-48 with 8:03 left.

The win kept the Panthers tied with Southwestern Oregon for first place in the Southern Region with an 8-3 record, and bumped the Titans into sixth place at 6-5.

Three teams: Mount Hood, Chemeketa and Clackamas; are tied for third heading into the final three games, which will be played Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.
