HILLSBORO - Central Catholic closed out a stirring playoff run with a 3-0 win over neighboring Grant in the final of the Class 6A state playoffs.
Nick Evans, Eliazar Gutierrez and Gabe Parish put shots home for the Rams, won finished at 17-1-1, with their lone loss to a private school in California. The team gave up just 11 goals all season - only one of them in the playoffs.
Hood River Valley completed a perfect season with a 2-0 victory over Woodburn in the final - the third straight year the teams had met in the semis or title match. Gio Magana and Alex Gutierrez scored for the Eagles, who won despite being outshot 15-11 by the Bulldogs.
North Marion earned the school's first soccer title with a 2-0 win over neighboring Stayton, which also was making its first appearance in a title match. Kris Huapeo and Aaron Caballero scored for the Huskies, who gave up just 10 goals all season - 2 in a 3-2 loss at Stayton during Oregon West Conference play.
Oregon Episcopal fired off 26 shots, including 11 on goal and took the title with a 2-0 victory over Portland Adventist. Johnathon Dugoni and Ian Brock each scored to lead the Aardvarks to their second-straight title, and sixth overall.
