PORTLAND - After a miserable first half, the Portland Timbers showed enough resilience to keep coach Gavin Wilkinson optimistic about the rest of the United Soccer Leagues schedule Thursday night.

"The first half was embarrassing," Timbers coach Gavin Wilkinson said. "We should apologize to our fans for how we played."
